Although the boys have been out of school for a couple weeks now, I thought I better post a couple pictures of my sweet Kindergarten Grad. He is the sweetest, most adorable 6 year old boy I know. I can't believe He is ready to be hitting the big playground. He is getting old. Ladies, watch your daughters because Slade may just be some kind of ladies man in training.

Here are a few pics from our Retro Carnival themed catering event.

This top picture is the "photo op" we made where everyone was able to get their pictures taken. We even provided some props...a feather boa or a cowboy hat to spice things up. Then they were greeted with popcorn popping fresh from a popcorn machine.

Some yummy classic desserts and some berry lemonade or mint lemonade.

The buffet was fun with the fried chicken salad served right out of this retro pedal car. We also had snow cones and cotton candy continually being served.

The centerpieces and table toppers that we created for the event.

Another job down and hopefully a zillion to go.

So, I have decided that it is due time to be back in the blogging world. I took a few months off for really no real reason and have been really feeling regretful that the last months I have been such a slacker. So, I will be playing a bit of catch up and recording a bit of what's been happening.

A couple weeks ago we went to Disneyland! My Mom came with us and we had a blast. We met up with Jason's brother Andy and his lovely wife and enjoyed a great couple of days at the happiest place on earth.
Here's a few pictures of the trip...if only life was always a vacation.

P.S. Extra thanks to a wonderful Mom and Glamma who was happy and willing to sit on the sidelines with Cruz who is just barley not tall enough for all the big kid rides - two more inches to grow and all of my boys can ride space mountain!

We went to Vegas in honor of our upcoming ten year anniversary. We ate a ton of food, took in a show, walked everywhere, and jason even played in a poker tournament. He was stoked to kick some trash with his poker skillz. It was so fun to just be together and remember why we decided to spend the rest of forever together. Here's to us!

We had Blue's Baptism on Sunday after church. It will top the list of special moments in my life. I am so proud of Blue for making this choice. Blue felt very strongly about the whole experience. He was very happy and later told me that it took everything he could to keep from crying during the confirmation. I asked him why and he said that he could tell a big difference in his life when he recieved the gift of the Holy Ghost. He is a very special boy to our family. When we got in the car afterwards, Slade got this really serious look on his face and said, alright, only two more years for me to prepare for my baptism!

So, I've been a bad blogger. My camera broke and I was just so upset about the whole thing that blogging only reminded me of the pain and suffering that I have had to endure with only disposable cameras to speak of. Come on, I can't be expected to live as a cavewoman with film to develop. I am a woman of the future who needs such modern convienences like digital pictures and Tivo. So, I finally got a new camera and I am as happy as can be. Expect a whole mess of blogging from me from now on, if only to catch up on our fabulous summer.

Here are a few highlight pictures of Blue on his fab flag football team, The All Stars. He loved playing Quarter Back and sometimes refers to himself as QB. It was a fun time and now we will have the summer off before a whole new set of Saturdays are filled with games and Gatorade and saliva gross mouth guards.

In other news, schools out for summer! I can't believe how time is flying by so fast. I wonder if I will ever actually believe it. Maybe this whole time thing is just Heavenly Fathers way of playing a little joke on us.

Pre-K Graduation!

Slade had his Pre-K graduation last night. He was so cute and sweet about the whole thing. He really took great pride in it. He had a great year and a wonderful teacher. Slade planned the whole night out including going to Macaroni Grill for dinner afterwards. He then wanted to go get ice cream, go to a movie, and maybe get in a little game of chess. He's a party animal, it's in his blood. Although we couldn't get in all the activities that he had planned, we had a nice dinner with glamma and grandpa fabulous. Thanks for the lil' graduation webkin, he rushed home to get started playing with it.

I had put all the children to bed, the house was starting to get really quiet and then I started to hear these two little boys laughing. I came into their room and found them proud as can be with all these winter hats on. They just thought it was the about the funniest thing ever. I especially think the coon hats were a nice touch.

While my fabulous Dad was out camping with Slade and Nash, I took Blue and Xander out for a night of ice skating. We happened to be there on "Teen Night." I thought that it would be fun with the live DJ and laser lights but it made it pretty scary for my first timers to learn with the massive amount of 13 year old boys skating around us at 100 mph. We did have a pretty fun time and the boys did a great job skating around. Next time we'll try out "Radio Disney Night," it might be more our speed.

Blue's Field Trip

Last week I chaperoned the first grade field trip to the zoo. I had a good group of kids that thought being at the zoo was super fun. Blue had a good time showing me how cool he is with the first grade crowd. I feel thankful to be able to do these kinds of fun things with my boys. Also, thanks to a great Mom for helping out with the other two so that I could go.

So, yet again I have become a blog slacker. About a week and a half ago Slade got to celebrate his unbirthday with Dad. Slade just couldn't decide what he wanted to do. Jason suggested Crackerjax. Slade just kept saying that it was a lame and a stupid place made for old people. Jason said, "it will be fun!" Slade continued on with the complaints that it really was lame and really made for old people. Finally, Jason pulled out a coupon book that we had and showed Slade pictures of all the fun things they had to do. Bumper boats, video games, and Go karts. Slade said, "Oh, Crackerjax! I thought you were talking about Cracker Barrel, the restaurant."

Anyways, they had a great time together playing games and going on rides. Now for some reason I am having a craving for Country Fried Steak.

Blue celebrated his unbirthday a little while ago, and I thought I should quit slacking and put some pictures up. This unbirthday tradtion invloves on the day six months from your birthday, when you are officially something and a half you get a special date just with Dad. The unbirthday child gets to choose the event. Blue was dying to go to a Phoenix Roadrunners hockey game. They got box seats, had some good Father Son bonding time and, Blue even got to finish off the night with a Roadrunner trying to eat his head. They had a great time.

All of the Aunties (Chelsea included although I didn't get a picture of her) took Remi and Ava to Princesses on Ice last week. It was a fun girly girl activity while all the boys were home playing Wii. Kelli and Devan had actual tears going on from all that "magic." Kelli said it best, "Why can't life just be a fantasy?" I told her, "That's what they make drugs for." I love how Remi is just about as tired as she could be in this picture.

My Baby Sister Had a Baby!

My wonderful sister Chelsea had her baby girl Carma Nicole last night! She was a big cutie baby, 8lbs 12oz and 21 inches long. Chelsea did a great job. She was in labor for a good 30-something hours, with a threat of c-section but managed to prove everyone wrong with a normal delivery and the final product being the sweetest little girl you have ever seen. All four of us sisters were there to watch little Carma be born along with the grandmothers and Chelsea's husband of course. It was such a wonderful experience to all be together to welcome this sweet little baby into our family.

Snow Day

We had snow in Arizona! In our part of the country if you want snow, you just hire a company to make you some. My cousin Nicole had her 13th birthday party and they had snow to play in and hot chocolate for everyone. The kids had a blast having a little snow fight in our 60-ish degree weather. I think this is the last time all my kids will ever be able to all sit in a Target shopping cart again. They were all eating lunch so I made them all squish in so that I wouldn't be slowed down by them trying to walk and eat at the same time. My great idea lasted about 5 minutes. Let me tell you, those 5 minutes were blissful.

Slade decided to take a little rest on my bed the other day . I came in to check on him and he announced, "I am voting for John Edwards for President." I said, "Ok, what made you say think of that?" He said, "I prefer him over Obama or Hillary Clinton."

Cruz had his first official day in nursery yesterday. Half the time he had a good time playing with the other kids and the other half he felt better hiding under my arm. Blue has created a "World of Fun" on his top bunk. This involves books, art supplies, a few toys, and that container that says Blue on it holds whatever candy he has to save. You know, for a little morning snack. He says he does this so on days that he doesn't have to wake up and go off to school he can just stay in his bed all day. A worthy goal.

Cruz is just so kooky that he insisted on wearing two different striped jammies. I mean, of course it wasn't that I couldn't find the matching pair. He is also still enjoying the bottle...oh no.

I met Tim Gunn last night! He was doing a book signing and promotional work for Liz Claiborne at Scottsdale Fashion square last night and three out of four of my sisters and I got the pleasure of meeting the Mr. Fab. Let me just assure everyone that he was just as lovely and wonderfully nice as he is on Project Runway and Guide to Style. He pretty much loved us too.

Family Fun Day

We decided to take a day off from life and headed to Prescott to hang out and hike around Lynx Lake. It was perfect weather and we hiked around the entire lake. It took us like 3 hours with stops to have lessons in skipping rocks. Jason is an excellent rock skipper, if I do say so myself. Just one reason that I married him... The boys had a great time and Cruz especially enjoyed the freedom of hiking in the mud and throwing rocks in the water. When Blue was 3 he said, "throwing rocks is a boys dream." This rings true for all three of ours.

We had such a fun Halloween this year that I am going to have to do this in parts. You will notice Slade doing the "dead punk zombie pose" perfectly. This took alot of time practicing in the mirror. Slade and Nash giving us the classic, rock on sign. Cruz playing the part of cutest baby/toddler Donald Duck, minus the hat. Finally, Blue, Ben and Xander having fun together as all things dead.

P.S. No news yet on the results of my surgery...lets hope I'm not a gonner.

My Smallest Baby Pumpkin

Cruz is the bestest best baby in the whole wide world of babies! He also loves rolling pumpkins all around the house.

In other news, I had my skin cancer surgery on Friday. Everything went as planned... although it was a pretty sucky plan. So yeah, no news on the biopsy until Tuesday or Wednesday. Everything looks hopeful that this can be the end of this skin cancer episode but I am really looking forward to hearing the final word about it. This is just not my style to be recovering from surgery and homebound.

Today was Mismatch day at Blue's school. I guess some of the other kids didn't get the memo. Notice how half his hair is spikey and half is smooth - Blue's genius idea. Although he was one of the few kids dressed up, he was rockin' it.

Melanoma, Whatanoma

Here is my story:

Somehow I ended up with melanoma. This bites for many reasons. One, it's cancer. Hello, cancer. Two, I really think the sun meant no harm, although it may be killing me. Lastly, it is cancer and is really putting a damper on things. This is all crazy because it started off as a little innocent mole on my back and recently turned into the "black tumor" - that is a medical term actually, I think. So anyways, they think they got it all but I am scheduled to have a surgery to remove more skin on my back and the lymph node that it would go to, if it did. We are really hoping that it didn't and most signs point to just that. I would appreciate all the good karma that can be sent my way. I will be having surgery next Friday and if anyone is in the market for an extra piece of back skin and a lymph node, let me know.....maybe it could help pay for the surgery.

Addiction

Somebody in our house who is one and a half has a little addiction problem. I mean, I am not naming names but his name starts with Cru and ends with z. He's got a hankering for the "ba ba" that he just can't quit. Do I need to call an intervention?

Alien Invasion

A funny thing happened while I closed my eyes for a few minutes on the couch. Cruz was napping, Blue was at school, and Slade was watching a little show. I woke up to find Slade with these "ancient alien curse marks" on his arm. He told me all about how aliens had entered the house and marked his arm with these curse marks. I told him alright Slade, but don't draw on your arms anymore and never use my Sharpies again. He assured me that he didn't do it and that aliens were to blame. I then had to tell him that the next time aliens enter the house while I am sleeping, show them where the washable markers are.

Diaper Emergency

Yesterday I went to Costco with one thing in mind, diapers. We were down to a couple of diapers left. I went shopping, bought bread, milk, cheese, even pretty Christmas ribbon. I came back home only to realize that I forgot the one thing i truly needed. When Jason called me to tell me that he was on his way home from work, I meant to tell him to get some diapers. I forgot again. So, last night, Jason got home and I headed off to the mall to get a haircut. Jason called me in a panic, "We have no diapers in this house!" I said I would go to Target and make sure that I get some.... all the while Dad was left to use his boy scout training. Here is Cruz with a flannel recieving blanket turned into a diaper. Nevermind that he went through about four of these blankets before I got home.

Birthday Boy!

While I was vacationing on the beach with Mrs. Dub, my computer decided to go on the fritz. We came back to find our computer grouchy and unwilling to work. I mean really, who can blame it? Don't coputers need a little vacation too? Before I get to pictures of my future daughter in law - the one and only Miss Dub, I need to celebrate my Blue Boy's Seventh birthday! That's right folks, Seventh! Soon will be off to college and off to get married. I guess before all that he'll have to turn eight. Here are some pics from his birthday party. My little Cruzer baby boy has turned into a rowdy toddler, help! He is always on the table, opening the fridge to get out the Hersheys syrup and sucking on the lid, messing with remote controls, and whatever other naughty thing you can think of. It is a really good thing that he is so super lovable and sweet, otherwise i just might throw him in the garbage. I guess that is where he likes to hang out anyways.

Last night my Mother, the wonderful Glamma Fabulous came over to babysit. She brought with her oversized monster cupcakes. A different one for every boy. Not only did she babysit, help with the homework, indulge the kids with sugar but, she made it possible for the hubs and I to go see Matisyahu and 311. It was surreal. Everyone there was the same. Ya know, late twenties early thirty somethings that listened to that music back in the good ol' days. Like in the 90's. It was cool and we had fun. Then we walked to the car and realized that we are getting old and crusty. Our ears hurt a tad and we drove home in our minivan.

Being that I am a huge fan of reality TV (why lie, let's just embrace it) I have found our new family mantra. As stated be Rodeo - that's a girls name - on Brett Michaels Rock of Love, "Don't threaten me with a good time." It is perfect in almost every setting. Try it out, see if it works for you. It worked for us when we went to the D-backs game. I was a little threatened, but I did have a good time.

Tonight they decided to use this diaper to entertain themselves for hours. Diaper outside of jammies, diaper as a football helmet and apparently a diaper on the head turned Blue into a hippie. Poor Cruz in the backgroung - just trying to get some shout out.

School is Cool

I just got back from taking Blue and Slade to their first day of school. They were excited and ready to go. After meeting their teachers at meet the teacher night Slade said to Blue, "I wish my teacher was young like yours - not like a grandma." Blue said, "No Slade that's good. That means she has more experience." So Blue is off to 1st grade, I can't believe it. While Slade is going to a Pre-K that is at the school everyday half day. I think this Pre-K will be the perfect transition to full day Kindergarten. His teacher is super nice and i think she will be perfect for my little Slade pants. Blue's teacher is 22 years old. I'm sure she will be super motivated about teaching scince this is her first year...I hope. Anywho, now I am off to do a little shopping with just Cruz in tow.

This is my baby Cruz. He is a crazy, sweet, high pitched screaming baby. His favorite place in the house to be is, in the bathroom with his hands in the toilet. This is not my favorite place for him to be. He apparently also loves Tupperware. He is a clown - watch out class of 2024.
